This helped me a lot. There was and will only be one Johnny Carson. I feel sorry for anyone under 30 who probably never saw the Tonight show while he was hosting
Gigi: No one will top Carson. His humor and wit was terrific. And "Karnack, The Magnificent" stumbling over that step with the crazy hat and cape! :D))!

I agree. I love Letterman, but no one can top Carson...it's all been down hill since then.
I only saw him a couple of times when I was a kid, so I probably missed most of the humor :)
You have to spend time checking Johnny out on you tube, Kitty ..he was a Comedic genius...
David Letterman and Jon Stewart come close.
Don't worry, barely under 30, but I did see his show a couple of times. Including his last one with Bette Midler.
Miss them all...miss the era...
Miss the guy who's initials are on those music stands! He might have been born in New Jersey, but he came here to become "Count" Basie!
