Wow 2008 who would have thought it?
Hubba and I went over to the club, had a couple bumps and were back home by 8:00.
We use to go down to our home town and spend the New Years with old friends
and family.
Lot's of good memories.
Now most of them are either gone for the winter, or just prefer not to go out
on New Years anymore.
So the last several years we have been taking turns with some couples and just playing cards.
It was my turn to entertain this year , but one couple was enjoying time with their family while
their son is home for a few weeks
from Iraq.
He has about 4 months to go, that is if the Shrub doesn't extend his time there.
He has told his wife and parents, he will not be staying in the Guards.
This has been very difficult for his wife and kids, emotionally and financially
It was interesting watching people at the club.
One guy was playing pull tabs with a vengeance
I estimated he spent about 400.00 to 500.00 dollars before he quit.
He may have hit some small winners, but I think he left with empty pockets.
I guess I'll never understand how people think they can win at those games.
When the Karaoke started, we decided it was time to leave.
I just wasn't in the mood to listen to bad country music.
The usual suspects were standing in line waiting to croak.
I hope this New Year brings a new Regime,
and will bring our kids home and try to repair our image in this world.

I hate pull tabs. My brother's friend dropped $500 last night. What fun is that? Do you know how many pairs of shoes I could buy for $500?! :)
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I just noticed your pic on your blog-you are a cutie patootie!!!
Techy Flash struck again.
from G'son Danny's wedding in 2006.
"I hate camera's"
she said chokingly.
Oh, pull tabs! God, I last saw them in the 90's. But then again, that doesn't mean anything. I think you had a knack for realizing when it was time to leave! Karaoke!!! :) HAPPY NEW YEAR, GREEN TEA!
Wishing you a very Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by my Blog of Laziness.
I seriously thought about just telling the woman she was wearing an unwelcomed train but how does one say that without ... well ... laughing? And it would have probably hurt her feelings. It's one thing when a friend hurts your feelings, but it is really really upsetting when a stranger does it. At least, that's how I take it. It's bewildering.
Nice to meet you, Green Tea, from one activist to another. Thinking the Iowa caucus will be interesting.
You will be happy to know your grandson's all survived their New Years celebration safe and sound.
G'son Danny and wife made it home from Las Vegas with an extra $500 in their pockets. Too bad they didn't think to quit when they were up by over $2000.
G'son Dusty, and fiance Marta, and Marta's sister Veronica went over to g'son David's before all hitting the clubs. They all made it home safe and sound without law enforcement intervention. Another good year!
Linda
Thanks runningwm, those candles I lit must have helped.
Or is it part of the maturing process...*smile*
You made me laugh out loud with your description of the usual suspects standing in line waiting to croak! Heeeeeee! I love your sense of humor.
