After watching children being taken from their mothers at the Polygamist compound last week in Texas,
I had such mixed feelings.
Then I saw these mothers robotic performance on Larry King
and I now feel the right thing was done.
The judge had a very difficult decision to make and she did it swiftly.
When it was discovered that several under age girls were pregnant, I don't think she had a choice.
I hope that some how many of these children can be returned to their mothers, outside of the compound they were raised in.
There is an excellent book about life inside a polygamist community written by Carolyn Jessop
Her father had three wives, and she had always hoped she would some day go to college.
Then one day at the age of 18, she was informed she was going to be the fourth wife of
Merril Jessop, the 50 year old leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS),
a radical offshoot of the Mormon Church.
She was devastated, and her own experience in the cult was so disturbing that she ran away with her eight children four years ago.
Every religion has it's radical groups, and I don't think this should reflect on todays Mormon church.
Meanwhile children are separated from their mothers and the fathers are not coming forward for obvious reasons.
Stay tuned !

This whole story is so upsetting. The women who are being hauled in front of the TV cameras just seem to be brainwashed. A messed up situation all around.
I am both fascinated and freaked out by the goings on in these places.
I just hope the kids are okay, and not scared out of their minds.
xx
It's all just sickening. I don't understand, for the life of me, how these communities can be so under the radar - subjecting these kids and young women to this horrible shit. I mean, it's not like they blend in really well in their compounds!
